Thanks also go out to the corporate teams involved including the operational improvement team, who supported the campaign by ensuring posters, lanyards and top tip cards were available, and the estates and facilities staff who responded in a timely manner to ensure our environments were well maintained and clean. Dr. Debra Adams, Senior IPC Advisor (Midlands and East) commented that: the staff on the wards were confident in discussing IP practices in their area, and were knowledgeable regarding the changes made since the previous visit.
We visited Meadows Ward and the sister, and all the staff, were proud to work on the area. It was good to hear how the cleaning team also attended the weekly ward briefing as they had such strong patient engagement. IP champions were visible, and staff had completed their competencies.
Sarah Quinton, Senior Clinical Manager, West Midlands Delivery & Improvement Team, who visited a number of services across mental health and learning disabilities said, “It was a pleasure to meet such enthusiastic ward managers and their teams today. There was also a lovely atmosphere on the wards we visited. I have visited twice in the last six weeks and found the same level of enthusiasm both times.”
