Our Trust is pleased to announce a new appointment to its Board. Dr. Madhava Rao will take up the role of Medical Director in September 2019, taking over the role from Dr. Jas Lidher who will step down at the end of August to focus on her clinical work.

Dr. Rao trained as a psychiatrist at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences in Bangalore, India and continued to train as a child and adolescent psychiatrist in the UK. Dr. Rao joined the Trust in 2006 as a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist, and for the last seven years has also held the post of clinical director for the children’s division.

Chief Executive, Lesley Writtle, said: “Dr. Rao is a very experienced clinical leader who knows the Trust well, and he will provide strong leadership to the medical team as we move forward.  Madhava brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge to his new role, which will be invaluable as we progress our quality improvement plans in parallel with the integration programme with Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NH Trust."

Speaking of his appointment Dr. Rao said, “I am honoured to be offered, and pleased to accept the role the medical director for the Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity to help progress the Trust’s vision as we move forward with our integration plans. The board, and particularly, Jas and her team, have made sure we are in a safe place and have a clear path for our future. I will help to make sure we remain a safe service delivering high quality services across the Black Country.”
