Student nurses welcome the Recovery College at support event at The Beeches

Student nurses were pleased to be introduced to the Trust’s Recovery College on Monday 1st and Thursday 4th July at a student nurse support session.

Guest speakers, Kerry Wilkes, Recovery College Principal and Recovery College students Sue Ralph, Bal Singh and Simon Townsend spoke to first and second year student nurses to share their roles and responsibilities within the Trust, discuss the various support mechanisms and structures in place for staff and service users and reflect on their experiences to date.

The presentations and group work were well received by all. The first and second year student nurses from mental health and learning disability fields worked together by engaging within discussions on mental health and the impact it has on health and wellbeing. The session was also a great opportunity to receive insight into the students’ perspective on how they and our services are implementing recovery through organisational change and adopting key principles.

The Recovery College session was warmly received and appreciated. Both Practice Placement Managers Helenah Duffill and Sean Hare, alongside students, are looking forward to future collaborations with the team.
