Our Trust is pleased to announce the launch of its new expanded service for carers looking after loved ones who are in receipt of services from the Trust.
Following a review of the carers service by Sandwell Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which identified that the service provided to carers of adult mental health patients were overwhelmingly praised, the commissioners decided that the service should be expanded to carers of children attending child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), and cares of people with learning disabilities.
The new all services provision will enable more carers to receive tailored assessments of their needs. This will ensure carers receive the support and advice they need to help keep them well and supported in order to carry out their caring responsibilities. Educational sessions will be available to develop their understanding of illnesses and treatments which will help them deliver high quality, safe care to their loved ones.
Individuals will also have the chance to attend local peer support groups to share knowledge with other carers and help them to recognise their needs. The new expanded service will offer a major boost for many carers in Sandwell, and will empower them to make positive changes to the lives of the people they care for.
