To celebrate World Mental Health Day 2018, Samina Allie, Chartered Psychologist, and Fauzia Khan, Assistant Psychologist, delivered a wellbeing workshop for patients and staff across the wards at Hallam Street Hospital, to which staff from across the Trust were also invited.
The workshop was centred round building resilience and promoting wellbeing and hope for the future, and brought patients and staff together to discuss what nurtured and inspired hope in them. Attendees were given an opportunity to share experiences and were supported in identifying goals around recovery and wellbeing.
Patients also got creative using birds, leaves, apples and flowers to write their goals for the future, which they then added onto a wellbeing tree. The tree is now being showcased at Hallam Street Hospital, for everyone to appreciate.
The workshop was received very positively with comments including:
“The workshop was brilliant. It was well structured and organised. It was nice to listen to the experiences of others, and find out what had helped them. I also enjoyed the cup of tea!”
“I enjoyed the workshop. It helped me focus on positives rather than negatives and gave me hope for achieving my future goals. It was nice to be part of the group and to mix with other people from different wards”
“I really enjoyed the workshop; it was nice to get off the ward”
“I enjoyed the group, found it interesting. Thank you”
