The Birmingham ‘Walking Out of Darkness’ event, taking place on Sunday 7th October, is one of several held across the country to raise awareness of mental health.
Last year a group of staff walked in support of the cause, and this year, particularly as the walk takes place so close to World Mental Health Day, we want to encourage even more staff, colleagues and friends to come together as a united group from across the Trust to help raise awareness of mental health and reduce associated mental health stigma.
This year we are also encouraging staff, colleagues and friends who walk to think about sponsorship for their efforts, the proceeds of which will be used for the benefit of our patients.
Starting and finishing at Victoria Square in Birmingham, the 10K walk, around the city centre and parts of the city’s canal network, starts at 11am but the event itself starts at 10am with speakers booked to address walkers and the general public.
