Celebrating International Nurses Day

Every year in early May a celebration is held to mark the contributions that nurses make to society. This year International Nurses Day is being celebrated on Sunday 12th May and is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate what’s great about the profession, share experiences and take time to reflect on all that our nurses achieve every day to make a massive difference to people’s lives.

Celebrations are taking place around the Trust including: displaying posters and distributing leaflets to services for display to enhance nursing as a career of choice, and highlighting some of the truths and myths about being a nurse. The divisions are celebrating in their own ways, including staff in the mental health division, on duty on Sunday, receiving cake and fruit, in recognition and thanks for their hard work. The children’s and learning disability divisions will also be marking the day, raising awareness across the wards of the excellent work their nurses do.

However you celebrate – let’s not forget what a good job nurses do and never underestimate the power and influence of a nursing career.
