Recruitment of board members for Healthwatch Sandwell
From April 2013, Healthwatch Sandwell will represent the views and experiences of people who want the best health and social care services in Sandwell.
The aim of Local Healthwatch will be to give citizens and communities a stronger voice to influence and challenge how health and social care servicers are provided.
Healthwatch Sandwell will be an independent organisation, able to employ its own staff and involve volunteers. It will have to keep accounts and make its annual reports available to the public.
Local Healthwatch will:
-
have a seat on the Health and Wellbeing Board;
-
be able to alert Healthwatch England to concerns about specific providers;
-
provide people with information about their choices and will signpost people to relevant providers or provide information about health and care services;
-
provide authoritative, evidence-based feedback to organisations responsible for commissioning or delivering health and social care services.
Board members must have knowledge of health or social care and a commitment to developing services. They will be involved in the strategic development and running of Healthwatch Sandwell, which will be a Community Interest Company (CIC). People with experience of working with a board, or providing financial or human resource management support are also encouraged to apply.
The Healthwatch Sandwell Reference Group wants to hear from local people, who either live or work, or use health or social care services in Sandwell and are keen to be involved in Healthwatch Sandwell.
Closing date for applications is Wednesday 13 March 2013.
Interviews will take place on 22 March 2013.
