Chairman of NHS Trust is re-appointed for his third term

Mr Bob Piper, Chairman of the Black Country Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, has been re-appointed by the Trust’s Governing body to serve until 31st January 2015.

Mr Bob Piper now starts his third term as the Chairman of the Trust. As part of his role he will continue to lead the Board of Directors and the Assembly of Governors to ensure quality services are provided in an effective and efficient way for patients.

Bob is a local councillor for Sandwell Abbey Ward since May 1999. He is currently Chair of Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC) Performance and Policy Scrutiny Panel and a member of the Council’s Scrutiny Management Board.

He has significant experience within the NHS and local government and has a sound knowledge of corporate governance issues in the public sector. He has chaired the Trust through significant change including the authorisation of Foundation Trust status and more recently the transfer of community services from neighbouring Black Country Primary Care Trusts (PCTs).

Thanking Governors for entrusting him with the position, Mr Bob Piper said:

“I feel very privileged to be asked by the Governors to continue in the role of Chair of the Trust. During my time as Chairman I am particularly proud that we have achieved Foundation Trust status and expanded to provide services across the whole of the Black Country.

“These are challenging times for the public sector, but that won't distract us from our goal to continue to provide excellent services for the people of the Black Country.”
