Education Learning and Development

The aim of our Education Learning and Development service is to provide a high quality and responsive service to all staff, ensuring that staff have the right knowledge and skills to deliver high quality care and support to our service users. 

The Learning and Development team’s annual plan lays out ways to make sure that all staff continue to have the necessary skills to do the right job at the right time with the right skills. The plan is developed with managers and staff, and is informed by the views of service users and carers. To help staff reach the goals laid out in the annual plan, all staff receive Appraisal Reviews each year.

Working for us, you will be able to undertake a training programme that can include such things as:

  • a core induction
  • mandatory and specialist mandatory training
  • Essential skills training for your role  
  • Pre-registration for nursing, AHP, Psychology
  • Clinical skills training and programmes supporting clinical staff to receive continuous professional development
  • Apprenticeships – including business administration, health and social care and widening participation
  • Care Certificate
  • Career Pathways – including Trainee Nursing Associate, Assistant Practitioner, Advanced Practitioner
  • accredited Leadership and Management programmes
  • Partnership working with local colleges and higher education
  • Regional links with Health Education programmes
 

Our career pathway work provides a framework work from entry level including volunteers, work experience, business administration, health care support workers, assistant and registered roles, leadership and management, through to advanced practitioner roles.

Other initiatives run by the Education Learning and Development service include:

  • Blended learning including eLearning, facilitated sessions and face to face training
  • regular monitoring and reporting of training compliance for quality and safety
  • Partnership working with patient experience, involvement and engagement
  • MERIT Training passport in conjunction with our local mental health trusts
  • Award winning employer programmes and staff
  • Highly skilled staff in training facilitation, teaching, coaching, mentoring and clinical skills
