In the announcement made on Tuesday, 10th March, by NHS England in relation to 'vanguard pilots' there are two out of the 29 from the original 269 applications which are from within the Black Country. 'Vanguard' pilots will have funding support of £200m to develop innovative new models of care which were described in Simon Steven's (CEO of the NHS) 5 Year Forward View published last autumn.
Dudley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and the Vitality GP collaborative (which covers 15 GP Practices in Sandwell and West Birmingham) have been selected as pilots and the Trust will make a significant contribution in helping shape new models of care for the populations served.
The 'vanguard' projects in pilot areas are aimed at creating more integrated services between health and social care. A number of pilots are aiming to bring together hospitals, community services, GPs and care homes, making it easier for these sectors to work together to provide holistic care for the population it serves.
