Learning Disabilities Made Clear

A new Learning Disabilities Health Toolkit and awareness campaign has been launched in the West Midlands. The regional project to develop the toolkit and campaign has been funded by West Midlands Mental Health Institute and is being hosted by our Trust.

Lisa Proctor, Programme Manager explains "the Learning Disabilities Health Toolkit has been developed on our behalf by Keele University with funding from the MHI LETC. The toolkit is being distributed to all NHS trusts in the region and we will be running the Learning Disability Made Clear campaign throughout December and January to raise awareness of learning disabilities and encourage healthcare staff to access the toolkit."

"The launch event in Birmingham was a great success with more than 50 delegates from trusts around the region taking part in a number of exercises to put the toolkit through its paces. Delegates were inspired to go out and use the toolkit to make a difference to the lives of people with a learning disability."

The toolkit and app are free to download from www.learningdisabilitymadeclear.nhs.uk. For further information, contact Lisa Proctor on 07583 967640.
