Tuesday 10th December saw Susan Claire Marshall, Director of Nursing and Professional Practice, launch the Trust's new strategy for nurses, allied healthcare professionals, psychologists and caring staff. Based on the Chief Nursing Officer for England's 6C's principles of care, compassion, competence, courage, communication and commitment.
Jane Cummings, Chief Nursing Officer for England, gave a personal and heartfelt speech about what drives her on a daily basis to champion the caring profession. She praised the excellent work that was being undertaken around the Trust, telling attendees that the work they do now will shape the NHS of the future.
Also an important part of the principles of the 6C's is the recruitment of staff to champion the role of 'care makers' and five of our care makers, who attended to help the day run smoothly, were introduced to Jane.
Susan Claire Marshall, said: "There is a real momentum going on in our Trust around the six 'C's of care. We have really grasped hold of the concept and are pushing it forward locally. Having Jane Cummings here to launch our strategy has meant a great deal to everyone. She's an inspiration to our staff to keep up the excellent work they are doing."
